Since they are governed by different rules and by the division of Italy into zones, let’s try to clarify by looking only at the calendar, excluding the proven needs – What they allow forever move throughout the Peninsula (health, work, reunification of couples, reunification of separated parents with children) – and taking into account that return home always allowed.

The Christmas decree and the rules

Can I leave my region?

You can leave one yellow region to go to another yellow region (all except Abruzzo and Campania, therefore) only until midnight on Sunday, December 20.
As of December 21, it will be possible to cross regional borders only to return home (domicile or residence) with self-certification.

Can I leave my municipality?

You can always leave the municipality from December 20 to 23 in the yellow regions (all except Abruzzo and Campania).
From December 24 to January 6, you can always leave the municipality if you have a maximum of two (children under 14 years old, the disabled and non-self-sufficient people are not counted) and you go to a private house within yours. Region once a day, with self-certification and respecting the curfew (22-5, except New Years 22-7).
On December 28, 29 and 30 and January 4, more than two trips are also allowed outside municipalities with a population of no more than 5,000 inhabitants, traveling a distance of no more than 30 kilometers and without reaching the provincial capital.
All other movements between municipalities are prohibited on December 24, 25, 26, 27 and 31, 2020, and on January 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6.

Can I move freely in my municipality?

You can circulate freely in your municipality from December 20 to 23.
From December 24 to January 6, you can always circulate freely in your municipality if you have a maximum of two -with children under 14 years old- and you go to a private home within your region once a day, with Self-certification and respect for the curfew (10 p.m. to 5 p.m., except New Year’s Eve from 10 p.m. to 7 p.m.).
All other movements within the Municipalities are prohibited on December 24, 25, 26, 27 and 31, 2020, and on January 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6.
On December 28, 29 and 30 and January 4 you can circulate in your municipality regardless of the number of people, respecting the curfew (22-5).
