“Considering yesterday’s difficulties, the third row is not so bad, but I think the second row was within my possibilities: I couldn’t bring all the sectors together. Too bad, because in Misano it is not easy to pass. But my pace is not bad, between fifth and tenth place we are all very close ”.
Will it be a defensive race, given that the Yamahas seem impregnable?
“In defense against Yamaha, but in attack with everyone else, because here is the time to finish fifth or tenth… You have to try to finish in the top five, even if it is very hard. You have to start well and be careful, because the sensations with the bike, unfortunately, are not too positive ”.
But if Yamaha dominated these two races, would there be time to bounce back in the championship?
“If you are competitive you can easily recover, there are still several races left. However, sadly, we cannot set our pace. There are still many points at stake, but we have to be able to change the situation ”.
The feeling from the outside is that the group is falling apart a bit.
“There would be many speeches to be made, but this is not the time. The biggest problem is the rubber of 2020: not that with 2019 it would have been all pink, but it certainly would have been different. This situation is complicating everything: drivers who drive differently than in the past are strong. You have to adapt well, but it’s difficult: as there are so many competitive bikes and cyclists, it’s a time to be far behind ”.
You lose 3-4 tenths in T1 on each lap, what is the explanation?
“For two reasons: in this section there are changes of direction right / left / right; in two curves there are many holes. I can’t be sure, but I think my bike suffers a bit more than the others on the descents; Also in 2018, that Lorenzo and I were very fast, we lost in the first three corners. Suzuki and Yamaha also move, but they manage to do a lot of speed in the middle of the curve, they go over the holes a few km / h faster than us ”.
Is the “trim variator” needed here?
