“There is no precise explanation, but it is true that the new generation is ready to be at the top. I think the riders learn a lot from Moto2, it is understood that it is an excellent category to prepare for MotoGP. In addition, there are many strong young people who can be the future of this sport ”.
We know that at this point you will continue competing and that you had to decide before doing some races: but today, according to the results of the first half of the championship, would you continue competing?
“Yep. In 2019 I was frustrated, because after Le Mans I fought a lot: Mugello was a nightmare, just like Assen and Sachsenring. And even in some races at the end of the year, apart from the result, I couldn’t ride a bike. That’s why We made a change within the team, I no longer wanted to compete like that. The reality is that my situation has improved a lot: the level is high, there are more strong riders, but with the results obtained so far I would have decided to continue anyway.
Morbidelli used wonderful words to describe their friendship / rivalry: he is going very strong, it will be difficult to have him as a partner.
“It’s going very strong. In 2019, in his first year with Yamaha, he struggled a bit, but reacted well to a teammate like Quartararò: theoretically, Franco should have been the team’s benchmark, but Fabio achieved great results. Morbido reacted great, now he’s training like hell, he’s going very fast. Without those zeros, which came through no fault of his own, he would be at the level of Viñales, Quartararò and Mir: at the moment he is in the best shape. Next year will be tough… ”.
