Whose fault is it? Andrea Dovizioso has no doubts: by Danilo Petrucci. Carlo Pernat, live with Moto.it at 6 pm, divides it in half between Petrucci and Ducati: 50% for each. Loris Reggiani points a finger at the Borgo Panigale maker.
“It is clear that Ducati – it is Reggiani’s opinion – cannot ask Petrucci to help Dovizioso, after having fired him. It would not be appropriate. Miller, on the other hand, also has a contract with Ducati for next year: yes, you could tell him something. All the Ducati were in Q1, they should have reminded Miller that he is out of the game, that he should have given Ducati a hand, avoiding taking Dovi’s place. Miller found himself in exactly that condition: when Jack started pushing to set his time, Andrea was second, Jack knew that if he fired, he could get Dovizioso out of Q2. I understand that this is an easy speech to make later, but when you can win a world championship, you have to do some reasoning and you have to do it first.
Who has the reason
Who is right then? Dovizioso, Pernat or Reggiani? I’m more on the side of Pernat, but giving a different percentage: I think that in this specific case the fault lies more with Danilo than with Ducati. I agree with Dovizioso when he says: “Petrucci didn’t have the speed to go to Q2, considering the relationship between us and what I did for him, he should have been smarter.” Danilo really should have understood the situation, he should have handled it better: it’s fine to take advantage of the slip with the first tire, a trail that Danilo was looking for in every way, but I think it’s wrong to do it with the second tire as well. It is very true that, this time, Petrucci did not look for her, he simply found himself behind Andrea. At that point, however, He should have had the sensitivity to turn off the gas, wait a moment, let Dovizioso go, and then go back to doing his job.
This, in my opinion, should have. But, as Ciabatti pointed out (find the interview separately), at that moment the egoism of the pilot emerged. But it was legitimate not to expect it from Petrucci, because it is true that Dovizioso helped him in every way, even more so, as Petrux himself used to point out. What he did is absolutely legitimate from a sporting point of view, but it is not justified under the human aspect. For me it is 60% guilty. Ducati, therefore, still has a great responsibility, because you can’t, you can’t, I write it twice, to leave everyone free to do whatever they want when you only have one driver to play for the world championship. You have to protect that pilot, you have to protect him, you have to facilitate him in every way possible, even making unpleasant requests or giving uncomfortable orders. Not only. The climate inside the garage is warm, not as of now, but since the beginning of the season, so much so that Andrea Dovizioso said enough, so I’m not going any further, even at the cost of staying on foot in 2021. And of course Ducati is very responsible for this: everyone thinks for themselves, it becomes understandable that Petrucci is not helping Dovizioso, as he would have made in 2019. the world championship slips away. What a pity.
