The state returns to the management of the old Ilva steelworks. ArcelorMittal and Invitalia signed the agreement in the afternoon that allows the company controlled by Mef to enter 50%, and then increase to 60%, in the share structure of Am Investco that manages steelworks in Italy. The agreement between ArcelorMIttal and Invitalia provides for a capital increase of AmInvest Co. Italy Spa for 400 million euros, which will give Invitalia 50% of the voting rights of the company. A second capital increase is scheduled for May 2022, which will be subscribed up to 680 million by Invitalia and up to 70 million by Arcelor Mittal. At the end of the transaction, Invitalia will be the majority shareholder with 60% of the company’s capital, Arcelor Mittal holding 40%. This was announced in a press release issued by Invitalia.
The agreement between Mittal and Invitalia for the transfer of control of the Taranto plant provides for “an articulated plan for environmental and industrial investments”. This is what we read in Mephthoa. Among other things, the decarbonisation process of the plant will start, with the activation of an electric furnace capable of producing up to 2.5 million tons per year ”.
The agreement between Arcelor Invitalia for the transfer of control of the Taranto plant foresees “the complete absorption, based on the plan, of the 10,700 workers employed at the plant.”
