Miozzo (Cts): «Compulsory vaccination also for prof. Information campaigns are not yet seen: this is how doubt and No-Vax prevail “

In the debate these hours about the coronavirus vaccine, the mandatory front is increasingly constant among experts. After the reluctance shown by an important part of the health personnel who work in hospitals, clinics and RSA, several politicians and professionals are seriously considering the possibility of introducing it to protect citizens at greatest risk, such as the elderly. According to Agostino Miozzo, coordinator of the Scientific Technical Committee, the vaccine should be imposed above all on doctors and nurses, also assuming the obligation for all those professional categories that work with the public.

“There is no doubt that a health worker should be obliged to be vaccinated,” he said in an interview with Delivery courier. “And I think the same should also apply to those who work in an RSA. Not only for those who serve the guests, but also for those who come in to do the cleaning. As the Undersecretary of Health Sandra Zampa had already proposed, Miozzo extends the possibility of the vaccination obligation to as many professions as possible: “I am thinking of all public structures, schools, those that work in contact with many people.”

Field

But it is clear that the imposition of public workers alone will not solve the problem of skeptics and anti-vaccines: the entire population must be convinced. According to Miozzo, what is needed is an effective awareness campaign: “We must do everything possible to explain to Italians how important and safe it is to get vaccinated – he said – We need awareness and information campaigns. Making the vaccine mandatory for everyone, immediately, can be counterproductive, it risks feeding the irrationality of the non-vax. The campaign desired by the extraordinary curator Domenico Arcuri with the architect Stefano Boeri, which has not yet started, would be in the pipeline: “I must say that I still do not see these awareness tools – says Miozzo – there are still too many hesitations. Doubt prevails in the collective narrative.

The health passport

In the near future, he announced, it will be mandatory to get vaccinated to travel: “Let’s go to the health passport. After all, even today in some countries you do not enter if you do not have certain vaccines, where would the scandal be in also asking for proof of being immunized against the coronavirus? ”. And does the Italian vaccination machine work? “I am moderately optimistic. Now we have to see the next steps.
