There are 4,810 new positives of Coronavirus in Lombardy in the last 24 hours according to the data published by the Lombardy Region and Civil Protection, as usual, on the afternoon of Saturday, March 20, 2021. The swabs made were 56,383, so the positivity rate is 8.5%. The new positives in the metropolitan city of Milan are 1,335, more than a hundred less than the new positives of the previous 24 hours.
Returning to Lombardy, there are 6,891 people currently hospitalized with symptoms in regional hospitals, that is, 95 more; 791 were admitted to intensive care units, that is to say three more. An increase that, it is recalled, is given by the difference between the new hospitalized and those who, meanwhile, have been discharged. The latter were 1,185 in Lombardy in the last 24 hours. Finally, seventy-eight people who, sadly, died from Covid in Lombardy in the last 24 hours.
AstraZeneca, vaccinations resumed at full speed
The pace of anti-Covid vaccines increases with AstraZeneca, also in Milan, to compensate for the time lost due to the preventive stop of a few days dictated by the Italian government. As we know, the EMA, the European Medicines Agency, has given the final go-ahead, believing that “the benefits outweigh the risks”. Then the vaccination machine started up again. In Lombardy, already on Friday the 19th.
And, from the first results in the Polyclinic, in the Fair and in the Science Museum, but also in the Fabbrica del Vapore and in the other vaccination centers of the city, we must be optimistic: many fewer people abandoned the vaccine than who expected. In some cases, there were also people who “missed” appointments during days off.
Cremona, reserves in tilt: desert vaccination center
An error in the reservation system for the anti-Covid vaccines that Aria manages caused a surreal scene, on Saturday morning, in the Cremona vaccination polygon of the fair: the health workers were waiting for 600 people but only eighty showed up. Thus, the relevant Asst began to call directly the people and mayors of Cremona and neighboring municipalities to send a list of people to contact, who were within the foreseen categories.
The tam tam, however, meant that many people showed up spontaneously at the doors of the Cremonese fair, also creating some gatherings. So much so that the ASST was forced to spread the appeal to citizens not to appear spontaneously. Meanwhile, thanks to the last second “calls”, the slots for the vaccines have still been depleted and the doses have not been wasted.
