(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, NOVEMBER 24 – For asylum and migration policies to work, an effective integration and inclusion policy is also needed, which is also essential to help the economy.

This was supported by the EU Commission in its action plan for the integration of third-country citizens, which shows the way for governments to take advantage of European funds to integrate ‘newcomers’ on EU soil. The action plan focuses on education and training, “with particular attention to facilitating the recognition of qualifications and language learning”. He then pushes for “better recognition of skills, to fully enhance the contribution of migrant communities, especially women.” The Commission will work with employers and social partners to promote integration into the labor market, support entrepreneurship and facilitate the recognition and assessment of skills. Brussels also calls for the promotion of access to adequate health services and affordable housing, financed through the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund Plus, the Asylum and Migration Fund and the InvestEU program.
