Today is also a hard day for those who have to make political decisions: Angela Merkel said at the end of the summit with the Laender, which lasted about four and a half hours, aimed at deciding new measures to combat the Covid pandemic. But it is necessary to find a way to avoid a health emergency, added the chancellor, who appeared before journalists together with Bavarian Minister President Markus Sder and Berlin Mayor Michael Mller. Closing of restaurants, bars, hotels and other businesses, while schools and stores would remain open. Restrictive measures related to surface area will be implemented for stores. The hairdressers remain open.
All public events, including sporting ones, canceled. The Bundesliga continues, but only behind closed doors.
Outdoor meetings have a maximum of 10 people.
Visits to relatives and family members are also prohibited if they involve travel; public gatherings with non-family members plus another family of your choice.
Tourism to Germany closed; Overnight stays justified by a simple vacation will not be accepted.
Financial aid worth up to 10,000 million euros to companies affected by the closure.
The first reaction, even before the Chancellor’s speech expected in the evening, was to Frankfurt Stock Exchange – Crashed almost instantly, with the Dax 30 shedding 4.1%. Paris is also expanding its losses (-3.8%), awaiting the speech of French President Emmanuel Macron, who will probably announce a shutdown tonight to counter the uncontrolled trend of the epidemic. Meanwhile, Piazza Affari lost 3.6%, London 2.9% and Madrid 2.8%.
