CHRONICLE
“They treated us very badly, they made us sleep on the floor. Bad food. It was terrible.” Thus, responding to the reporters’ questions, Onofrio Giacalone, one of the 18 fishermen from Mazara del Vallo caught with their fishing boats in Libya for more than 100 days and today finally returned to Italy.
“We didn’t know anything about what was happening in Italy – he says – they kept us in the dark about everything.” And again: “They shot into the air, we were scared to death. We thought we were going to die. We slept on the ground – he says – and we were so scared.”
