mayors write angrily to the company

Endless queues outside post offices. Outside, because inside the entrance is limited due to the Covid epidemic. Not only that, but in some towns the hours have been reduced, which causes an increase in the influx even in the offices that have instead kept the usual hours.

With the cold season, waiting outside is particularly difficult to bear, especially for older users. And so the mayors of Rhodense have decided to write a letter asking the general management of the post office to extend the opening hours. The appeal was signed by Yuri Santagostino (Cornaredo), Michela Palestra (Arese), Andrea Tagliaferro (Lainate), Maria Rosa Belotti (Pero), Carmine Lavanga (Pogliano Milanese), Angelo Bosani (Pregnana Milanese), Pietro Romano (Rho), Sara Santagostino (Settimo Milanese) and Guido Sangiovanni (Vanzago).

“Despite the various complaints made by the mayors of our territory, unfortunately we noticed that nothing has changed with respect to the post office hours”, write the first citizens: “In recent weeks the mayors have found ourselves with queues every longer and longer outside of them. Discomfort aggravated by the low temperatures that will accompany us for at least a few months, for all users but in particular for the elderly. The discomfort is also perceived in the offices that have not had time reductions since the citizens of several municipalities pour into the open offices ”.

“Restore old times”

“For these reasons, we once again report on the extreme urgency of the reopening of the post offices in our municipalities, as well as the hours prior to the most acute phase of the Covid emergency”, the mayors continue: “We are very aware of the commitment made by Poste Italiane with the protection of users and their employees, is the same that we have put in our offices to guarantee essential services during this emergency. We believe that the time has come, however, to return to the old schedules that without certainly they allowed a better service to our citizens ”.

Previously, Poste Italiane had promised a follow-up to “correct the shot”: “After a few weeks we asked you what options this follow-up has taken and what are the reasons why the old schedules have not yet been restored”, conclude the first citizens . .

The problem of endless queues outside the post office is actually widespread, as can be seen in person in front of any post office and as can be read in the various Facebook groups in the area, even in the city of Milan. . A member of the group “Sei di Bonola” ruthlessly summarizes the situation in his neighborhood, noting that the post office in via Quarenghi has been closed for some time and there has been no reopening announced on 12 December, while in via Appennini the queues are continuous. And that’s not all: in via Quarenghi, the Postamat (the ATM of the post office) has also been closed for some time, while “the one in via Appennini – the man writes – is often” closed by operators “.

Several people echo him: one citizen responds by pointing out that he has spent in the queue “three hours and thirteen minutes counted” at the office in Piazza di Santa Maria Nascente, in QT8, another who had waited two and a half hours in via Rubens .
