Maxi blitz of the Investigation Unit of the Provincial Command of Cagliari near Lake Prunaghe, in the municipality of Sedilo.

The investigations were triggered by a soldier who, free from duties and walking with the dog, smelled a strong smell typical of marijuana plants. Plants that he could not find only in the dense vegetation.

From there, the searches began, also thanks to the companions of the “Sardinia” Hunting Squadron and the XI Elmas Carabinieri Helicopter Nucleus.

Throughout the night there was a large and uninterrupted patrol in the area with the use of some 40 soldiers and the Carabinieri helicopter. The nose of the military, in fact, had not deceived him.

After hours in front of the police, 3 fields full of plants appeared ready to be cut, and then dried, to be placed in the drug market. The fields were delimited by a kind of photo-traps with electric voltage cables fed by generators to keep the animals away.

The plants were nearly 1,250, all thick and between 1.50 and 1.80 meters tall, capable of potentially producing at least 600 kilos of marijuana. Taking into account the retail sale, and therefore the cost in grams for the final consumer, the total value is around a few million euros.

Investigations continue, meanwhile the plants have been cut down and destroyed.
