The agents of the Flying Squad of the Frosinone Police Headquarters and the Financiers of the Frosinone Provincial Command have executed an order for the application of precautionary measures issued by the Court of Rome at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Prosecutor of Rome, against 25 people – of which 16 with preventive detention in prison and 9 with house arrest – and one with a residence obligation, all under investigation for a criminal association directed at drug trafficking, money laundering and extortion.

As part of the operation, 3 suspects of drug trafficking and extortion crimes were also carried out, as part of another investigation carried out by the State Police and coordinated by the Public Ministry of the Cassino Court.

The investigations started in 2018, initially coordinated by the Public Ministry of the Cassino Court, have their origin in some arrests for drug trafficking and several seizures of large quantities of narcotics in the city of Sora. From the beginning of the investigation, it was revealed that the individual drug trafficking episodes were attributable to a real, well-structured and widespread criminal organization in the Sorano area and in close contact with criminal groups based in Campania, and in particularly in the neighborhoods. Scampia from Naples and Bronx from San Giovanni to Teduccio, from where the supply of narcotic substances took place. The transport was carried out by special couriers who, to evade any control, alternated on the road from Campania to lower Lazio, to the area of Sorano, where the narcotic substance was classified and stored in different places at the disposal of the association, the main one of which consisted of a self-demolition plant for ferrous materials.

Given the seriousness of the alleged crimes, the direction of the investigation soon passed under the jurisdiction of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Public Ministry of the Rome Court.

The development of the investigations, carried out synergistically by the Flying Squad and, especially in economic aspects, by the Grupo de la Guardia di Finanza de Frosinone, also through the use of sophisticated technical means, made it possible to identify two factions, one headed by a family. of Campanian origin, he moved to Sora in the early nineties, and a second of purely local character, at the top of which were Sorani’s prejudices.

The two groups, after an initial period of mutual collaboration in buying and selling in the different squares of the sorano, casinato and province of L’Aquila, later entered into conflict with each other, giving life to a real confrontation that ended. acquire the monopoly of the commercial activity in the Sorano area.

The investigative activity carried out by the State Police and the Guardia di Finanza, in fact, had allowed to proceed, already in the investigation phase, to the arrest of another 16 people, to the complaint of 12 people and the kidnapping of more than kg. 25 of narcotics consisting of cocaine, hashish and heroin, circumstances that originated in the two suspicious organizations with each other and friction, unleashing a real war between gangs, which led to acts of intimidation and episodes of extreme violence that saw the subjects above as protagonists of the two parties, flanked by their respective acolytes.

During the investigators’ activity it became clear that, while the “local” drug trafficking group had put all its energies into commercial activity, the partners of the Campania origins faction had extended their interests to various areas, infiltrating the fabric. violent and unscrupulous economic social economy.

Specifically, the association’s leaders also ran a rapidly growing funeral home business, a rise made possible by illicit drug trafficking profits – quantified at more than 9,000 euros per week – which were subsequently reused. even in the funeral home, which could thus offer services with luxury cars at a very low cost, but without complying with the obligations of filing tax returns. The goal was to monopolize the funeral home market, bringing pre-existing companies to their financial knees and trying to win the resistance of competitors with serious acts of intimidation. In fact, last May, the three recipients of the arrest warrant, which was carried out at the same time as today’s precautionary custody orders, found a pig’s head in front of the entrance to a funeral home, a gesture with clear connotations. mafia.

At the conclusion of the investigations, the Preliminary Investigation Judge of the Rome Court, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Public Ministry of the Rome Court, issued an order for the application of personal precautionary measures against 27 subjects, of whom 17 were in prison and 10 under house arrest, as well as the obligation to remain in the municipality of residence in relation to another person, and has also ordered preventive seizure for the purpose of direct confiscation and for the equivalent of 40 thousand euros.

The Flying Squad agents also executed 3 arrest warrants issued by the Public Ministry of the Cassino Court, referring to another line of investigation.

The operations were attended by the canine anti-drug units of the Grupo de la Guardia di Finanza de Formia and the Canine Department of the Nettuno State Police, the helicopters of the Flight 1 Department of the Pratica di Mare State Police and the Aeronavale Operational Department of the Guard. of Finance of Civitavecchia, as well as teams from the “Campania Crime Prevention Department” of the Police.

The synergy between the State Police and the Guardia di Finanza – each in their respective powers – with this operation confirmed the presence of the State in contrasting criminal activities.
