The photo, exhibited in the shop window of the herbalist managed by his wife in Casalpusterlengo, participated in a photography contest
The image portrays the family in an embrace. Mattia was the first patient to be officially diagnosed with Coronavirus in late February. And with the news of his contagion, Italy plunged into a pandemic nightmare.
Today, with this photograph, the message of hope arrives loud and clear. Mattia struggled for weeks in intensive care. While in solitary confinement, he was unaware that his wife Valentina, pregnant at the time, had also contracted the virus from abroad. They both healed and enjoyed the birth of their first daughter, Gaia.
And here they are, then, portrayed in a shot that narrates the desire and the possibility of restarting after great pain and enormous effort. The photo participated in the contest organized by Confcommercio and the municipality with the Pro loco of Casalpusterlengo for the most beautiful showcase in the country entitled: “Viva l’italia”.
Mattia’s family did not win, but after all, they had already overcome the most important battle in life.
