The data released by the Region on the massive projection carried out in the last weekend says it all about tracking down faults in Messina. Nearly 60,000 quick swabs (59,263 to be exact) were processed throughout the region, with 905 positives (approximately 1.5%).
But it is the confrontation between provinces that is ruthless: even more than 15,000 tampons in Palermo and 18,771 in Trapani, 1,786 in Catania, almost 9,000 in Ragusa, 6,869 in Syracuse, 4,663 in Caltanissetta, 1,759 in Enna, 1,198 in Agrigento. And Messina? Only 184. With the paradox that, with 13 positives, the percentage of infected (around 7%) was much higher than the regional average: Caltanissetta (2.3%) and Catania (1.4%) are still far behind . , the others are in the order of zero point.
Figures that led the Region to decisively request an acceleration and a change of course from the ASP of Messina. How? The first step was taken in the last days, when it was decided to divide the two main activities of ASP tracking: the monitoring of positives, direct contacts and positive suspects; massive projection. Two activities that both were carried out by the Usca (health care continuity units), which nevertheless found themselves with a “monstrous” workload to face.
