Forty stab wounds inflicted on Marisa Pireddu by her husband Giovanni Murtas, 57, arrested in Serramanna on May 5 on murder charges.
Confirmation of the man’s fury by his 51-year-old wife came from the autopsy. Seven hours of examination, carried out by the coroner at the request of the prosecutor Nicola Giua Marassi, during which the wounds, inflicted with an artisan knife, a stiletto built by Murtas himself, a carpenter, were reported one by one: arms, legs, trunk and neck.
The coroner also identified signs of the victim’s attempt to escape the massacre, shielding himself with his hands.
Murtas, found in the house next to the body of his wife seriously injured for trying to commit suicide with the same knife, is still hospitalized in the cardiac surgery department of Brotzu hospital in Cagliari.
The forecast remains confidential.
