The Piedmont Region has adapted, in the light of the new circular of October 12 from the Ministry of Health, the provisions regarding the management of Covid cases in the school setting and the procedures that a student who tested positive for the virus must follow , by his companions. , by families and teachers.
Until now, in the case of a positive student, the territorial health service carried out an investigation of the “close contacts” between classmates and school operators, providing for these contacts the fiduciary isolation and a molecular verification platform after 4 – 5 days.
Now, however, in accordance with the provisions of the ministerial provisions, in the case of a positive student, the class will be quarantined for 14 days, with health surveillance to control the evolution of health conditions. If no symptoms arise during quarantine, students will be able to resume daily life and normal school activities on the 14th, without the need for a tampon. If, on the other hand, the presence of symptoms occurs during quarantine, the physician / pediatrician should be contacted to assess the need for a verification swab.
Piedmont region, quarantine reduced to 10 days with rapid tests
However, to lighten the burden of quarantine on schools and families, the Piedmont Region has decided, as soon as rapid tests are available, to apply the possibility provided by the Ministry of a quarantine reduced to 10 days with a buffer check.
If the quick test fails, the student will be free immediately on the 10th day. If, on the contrary, it is positive, a confirmatory molecular test will be performed.
From September 20 to October 16, 650 students tested positive against 8,152 swabs performed. On the other hand, there are 226 school operators that have been positive to date at the regional level.
From the start of school, the positives at school age, compared to all infections found in that period in Piedmont, are around 20%: in the range of 0-2 years 2.3%, 0-5 years 2%, 6 -10 years 4.7%, 11-13 years 3.7% and 14-18 years 7.7%.
