Asset value more than a hundred million were confiscated from Gaspare Finocchio, 89 years old. The measure was issued by the Palermo Court – Prevention Measures Section, at the request of the local Public Ministry – Dda, after the judgment of the Court of Cassation.

Finocchio was sentenced by the Palermo Court of Appeals to 7 years and 3 months. He himself had been arrested on November 14, 2003 with his son Giuseppe and the brothers Diego and Pietro Rinella, considered the main subjects of the Trabia mafia family.

The investigations revealed his participation in Cosa Nostra, “in particular – said the financial police – in reference to his role as a businessman linked to the Trabia mafia family, in favor of which, according to judicial evidence and multiple statements by collaborators of the justice, subordinated to his activity as a builder, deliberately becoming the architect of operations to reinvest the proceeds of the illicit activity of this criminal group ”.

Antonino Giuffrè himself in his statements said: “The coast from Buonfornello to Campofelice was a land of conquest and havoc” for the mafia that in those years invested in the province and precisely in these circumstances Gaspare Finocchio had accepted the fictitious title of some of the assets of the Rinella family.

Other judicial collaborators, such as Salvatore Contorno, Tullio Cannella, Giovanni Brusca and Giovanni Drago, have later affirmed over time that Finocchio was a business partner or in any case a businessman “close” to other gangsters of the Cosa Nostra of Palermo , including the Gravian. .

Financial investigations revealed a disproportion, amounting to almost 6 billion old lira in the 1990s, between the enormous value of assets and investments made over time and the reported income by Gaspare Finocchio and some of his nominees. .

The Palermo Court – Prevention Measures Section, at the request of the Public Ministry, has issued since May 2004 various orders for the seizure of the property of the Finocchio family. It also affected several companies with the related set of corporate assets and financial resources.

Following the judgment of the Court of Cassation, the following were seized: 6 companies; 377 properties (including land, villas, houses, garages, warehouses and buildable and non-buildable land), among which the complexes built in the Brancaccio district of Palermo and the villas of “Torre Roccella” in Campofelice di Roccella stand out; 17 financial reports.
