20 Investigated in police investigation, including mayor and businessmen

(ANSA) – TRAPANI, DECEMBER 15 – Police bombing in the Trapani area against a series of suspected gangsters, many of whom are close to the number one of Cosa Nostra, Chief Matteo Messina Denaro. There are 13 arrest warrants issued by the Palermo DDA magistrates that hundreds of agents from the Palermo and Trapani mobile teams, supported by those from the central operational service, are fulfilling at this time. Twenty suspects, including a mayor, accused of corruption and electoral extortion, and several businessmen. The complaints against the suspects are, for various reasons, mafia association, extortion, arson, robbery, personal aid and electoral corruption, aggravated by the mafia method.
The handcuffs were taken by some businessmen and by a manager of a public company in Trapani who is also the president of a social winery while the mayor is only under investigation. A series of searches are also underway in the Trapani countryside for weapons. (HANDLE).
