Province. There is an air of “freedom” this Sunday in the yellow zone through the “neighboring” Piedmont and Lombardy, on this third Sunday of Advent that, if you look at the thermometer with its fifteen degrees, you feel like March.
A trip first to Varazze and then to Celle Ligure. In fact, some Milanese and some Piedmontese came down taking advantage of this Sunday shift and the favorable weather forecasts. We work in bars and restaurants: we smile a little more. A getaway to Varazze where the port area comes to life with families and people walking: Milanese yes but, above all, Piedmontese.

The first we meet are Denis and Federica, from the province of Alessandria, who have been dreaming of returning to Varazze since the end of September: “We have been locked in the house for too long, it weighed a lot”, says Denis, green eyes scanning the sea near. He loves Liguria and hasn’t been back to Varazze since September. “This morning fog and zero degrees.” You look at Federica, his girlfriend, you read on his face the rush to leave: the day is everything to them, he comes back quickly at night and it is time to go home.
A little further on, a family from Milan “has lunch as close to the sea as possible: we miss it too much.”
Then another couple: Germano and Liliana. They woke up to an icy white landscape. They come from Bra, in the province of Cuneo: “At last we can see the sea again, to live”. They will also go home at night. They are satisfied with a splendid sunny day, since the lady likes the sea very much and missed it very much.
When we get to Celle, the Piani car park, near the seafront, is almost entirely occupied by cars. A child approaches the window and asks us if the parking is paid, we say no, and by the accent we understand that he is not Ligurian.
He also arrives with his girlfriend from Alessandria: “We saw the good forecasts and we got off.” Definitely a walk through the town, lunch and an ice cream. Stefano and Sara’s escape will be a little longer since they will spend the night near the sea.
On the other side of the province, in Alassio and Albenga, there are so many Lombard and Piedmontese tourists with the same “desire” for sun, sea and Riviera. If the “gut” of Alassino last week was practically deserted, thanks to the sun and good weather, this weekend is at least crowded.
The Cevolo family, originally from Salsomaggiore Terme, “took advantage of the weekend to spend a short vacation at the hotel. We waited for the yellow zone to open with us as well. Alassio is an extraordinary place: it has a very particular microclimate and that is why we take advantage of it and enjoy the sunny day outdoors ”.
Fabrizio and Fabrizia Monica are from Villanova sull’Arta (Piacenza) and are “guests of friends who have a second home. We stopped for the weekend. Finally being in the yellow zone, we reached Alassio. We had to wait, but it was worth it. We arrived from the mist of the Po valley and we were filled with sun. We went from zero degrees to 17 degrees. A big difference “.
The Verga de Cremona family preferred the Torres de Albenga to the Muretto de Alassio: “We came for health reasons, all three of us with asthma. We arrived yesterday. In Cremona it is only foggy and cold while here we find a beautiful sunny day. We will stay until tomorrow, but we are looking for a house for rent to move here, especially because of the sea breeze and the weather and to restore precarious health ”.
