After two days of research, Camilla Sismondo, 26, employed in Cuneo, was found dead around 1:00 p.m. today (Monday, September 28), in the Rocca dell’Abisso above Limone, 2,400 meters above sea level, near a small lake. Next to her, the inseparable four-legged friend, who also died instantly after falling dozens of meters off a cliff, from the winter path that connects La Rocca with the Limonetto hamlet.

Born in Savigliano, an only child (father from Turin, mother from Cuneo), Camilla had lived for a time in Borgo San Dalmazzo, studying for a baccalaureate at the Bonelli Institute in Cuneo. After graduating in Accounting, in 2017 she graduated from the University of Cuneo in Economics and Business Management, Marketing and Strategy. A fact remembered by many photographs on her Facebook profile, which portray her smiling and proud with a laurel wreath on her head and a thesis in her hands. Then she moved to Cuneo and found work in an office. A beautiful girl, full of projects and interests, surrounded by many friends and who, together with her boyfriend, shared a passion for sports and mountains.. He had raised the alarm himself on Saturday night, without seeing her return. The last sighting around 2:30 pm on Saturday by a hiker from Limone who had crossed Camilla above Fort Giaura (2253 meters). At that time, the young woman had published a video in the stories on her Instagram profile, with the fort taken from above. Then she left.

Impressive search operations, which were also attended by friends and family, the young woman was identified by a team on the ground made up of men from Alpine Rescue, financial police, firefighters and police who arrived on foot to the slopes.

The body, recovered from the fire brigade’s Drago 55 helicopter, was taken to the Limone airstrip and collected from the limone cemetery morgue, pending authorization for the funeral. It is not excluded that the judiciary order an autopsy. “A tragedy that affected me deeply because a young woman lost her life in our mountains – says the mayor of Limone, Massimo Riberi – and more because Camilla’s boyfriend is a friend and a colleague from work. To the families I express my deepest condolences also on behalf of the municipal administration.
