(ANSA) – FERRARA, SEPTEMBER 09 – I had put a like on a post praising Hitler and the crematorium ovens. Luca Caprini, a councilor for the League in Ferrara, who is also a police officer and a Sap unionist, is being investigated for propaganda and incitement to the crime of racial discrimination with the author of the sentence, businessman Marco Faccini. The two were registered by Digos, as part of an investigation by the prosecutor Andrea Maggioni. The text in which Caprini had clicked “I like” was written to attack the singer Sergio Sylvestre: “But has that man with the mustache who used the ovens gone?”
The story, which provoked various controversies, was relaunched for the first time on Facebook by Ilaria Cucchi, the sister of the Roman surveyor who was detained ten years ago and died after a week in hospital. Cucchi, on social media, had addressed police chief Franco Gabrielli directly.
Caprini had explained that he gave the ‘like’ just because he knows the author, without having read the content of what he had written. The policeman on duty at the Stradale later admitted that he had made a mistake and said he was not pro-Nazi. “Mine was a big mistake,” he said. (HANDLE).
