“No more time”. The nurses in Genoa have sent an appeal to the president of the Liguria region, Giovanni Toti, to order “urgently” the emergency shutdown regional. In an open letter posted on the Facebook page of the Order of Nursing Professions of the capital, they wrote that they were “in full emergency” due to the Coronavirus. “We must not delay any longer and take the appropriate initiatives to combat the current health emergency,” they write. The situation in intensive care is of special concern for health professionals, in whom “patients with ventilatory supports, such as helmets” must also be taken into account.
And, consequently, the difficulty of facing the explosion of the so-called new wave without having sufficient resources: “We reject any useless attempt to face the emergency by suspending legitimate work breaks – they write – all the more so in these dramatic moments” . that in addition to the daily fatigue, we see the nightmares, the faces, the pain of six months ago resurface ».
The appeal: “Instead of exasperating us, use other resources”
“Instead of exasperating and mortifying the nurses and health workers all with the threat of blocking holidays – the letter continues – it is necessary: to suspend all electoral activities in the hospital and transfer them within accredited health establishments and activate immediately the intervention of the Civil Protection for the use of the previous rankings of doctors, nurses and health social workers to be assigned to health establishments with low intensity of care ”.
