There are still many unresolved issues to guarantee transportation to school Today the meeting in the Region: a plan is needed for September 14
Genoa – «Even if they filled us with money now, it wouldn’t do any good. Because it takes months to buy a coach, a bus or hire a driver. Behind the words of Francesco Masinelli, sole administrator of the ATC of La Spezia, all the difficulties faced by local public transport are hidden by the opening of schools.
New possibilities, even in the Cesarini area, do not exist: «We visit the largest Spanish public transport company: the production is a maximum of 400 pieces per year. It is impossible to think of going to the market, even the European, in such short periods.
Masinelli is concerned: “We will do our best, but if the distance and capacities are confirmed almost halved, everything will be very difficult».
The countdown to the first ringing of the bell on September 14 is tumultuous. The problem of how to get students into the classroom (school buses for the little ones, traditional means for high school) is the dilemma at the plate.
To try to untangle a very complicated skein this morning there will be a meeting in the Region with the governor Giovanni toti, the school councilor Ilaria Cavo, the regional office of the school, the Anci, the local authorities and the five transport companies.
What is the situation in Liguria? The first problem is to match the entry and exit times of institutions with those of public transport. Few schools have already developed them and, in any case, as at the beginning of the year, they run the risk of being provisional. A puzzle. The second refers to capacity, distance, respect for safety. In Genoaon the first front, the director Ettore Acerra met with representatives of transport companies in the former superintendent. First step of the comparison (which in the operational part now passes to the technicians) to hypothesize the beginning of different lessons at least in high school. A range between 7.40 and 8.50 is assumed. However, the times are very tight.
In the province of Imperia The municipalities do not follow any particular order. Imperia and Sanremo focus on the “pedibus” (in practice, you go to school on foot in a single long line) concentrating the available means in the most distant places. The biggest problems could focus on the valley lines, inland and also in the cities. Rt has an outdated fleet, now there are absolutely no trolley buses in San Remo and on the route between the City of Flowers and Ventimiglia (pending mass transport calls) and they have only been partially replaced little by little by diesel vehicles, I also used Euro4 , bought in an emergency.
The situation is also complicated in the Savonese. The mission: calibrated bus schedules according to diversified high school openings.
This is the challenge facing Tpl, the province and the directors. There are three technical tables: one for the area from Andora to Finale, one from Finale to Savona, including the city, one for Valbormida. In the latter there will be no changes in the schedules (everyone enters at 8 a.m.), while in Savona the institutes are thinking of staggered entries between 8 and 9.
Then there is the metropolitan area of Genoa. Andrea Geminiani, ATP General Coordinator says: “The situation is complex. Let’s take an example: there are students who make trips of up to an hour, an hour and a half to go to school, let’s think about the route between Santo Stefano d’Aveto and Chiavari. With situations of this type, even a differentiation of the entry and exit times does not change much. How to deal with the situation? “In recent years we have bought vehicles, we certainly cannot think of increasing the fleet and drivers now. We await the indications of the Region, we will count all the availabilities, even the overtime of the drivers, and we hope to know what the allowed capacity will be. We also need all the collaboration of the people: with the masks they gave him, he never had problems. We will not be able to organize a personalized taxi service but we will try to offer the students the best service.
