The tradition of the great Christmas tree, made up of almost a thousand light bulbs, which was lit this afternoon on the San Gallo hill in Soligo, does not cease.

Since 1993, on the night of December 8, the maxi Christmas tree of a great classic in the Quartier del Piave has been lit.

The tree, drawn on the hill overlooking the Soligo valley, is illuminated by a thousand light bulbs, measures 112 meters high and 64 meters wide and has become a point of reference for the entire valley.

In terms of size, it is the second Christmas tree in Italy (among those “drawn” on the hills) after the one in Gubbio and is made by volunteers from Pro Loco di Soligo.

The St. Gallen Christmas tree is visible from several kilometers away and was conceived and built during the presidency of Arcangelo Busetti.

The maxi-tree is illuminated every day from 4.30 pm uninterruptedly until 8 am, from December 8 until the end of the Christmas holidays.

Present at the short tree lighting ceremony, strictly confidential for the Covid emergency, the mayor of Farra di Soligo, Mattia Perencin, the president of Pro Loco de Soligo, Enrico Nardi, the president of the Consortium of the Pro Loco of the Quartier del Piave, Roberto Franceschet, representative of the Alpini de Soligo Group and the Asociación Arma Aeronautica Nucleo Quartiere del Piave as well as the parish priest Don brunone.

Over the years, the Soligo Christmas tree has become a point of reference for the entire territory, now declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and an important symbol also for the children of the area who await it. every year with great emotion.

This year’s surprise was the pleasant presence of Canal-Il Canal, the influencer from “made in Farra di Soligo” who did not skimp on jokes and funny sketches.

“A sincere thanks to the Pro Loco volunteers for the constant maintenance work that, as you can imagine, is not easy at all – says the Pro Loco of Soligo – Let us point all eyes towards the hill and enjoy the view of our fir tree, a good omen to leave behind this year of suffering and hardship ”.
