Spallanzani experts are convinced that the peak of infections will arrive in mid-November. With the curve that could skyrocket even more when the influence of the season begins. This is another reason why the Region must run in search of coverage: hence the decision to obligatorily give everyone over 65 years at least one sample per month.
Yesterday between Rome and Lazio tampons increased, 26 thousand, but also positives (2,432 and 223 more), deaths (34 and 13 more), while the number of cured (144 recovered and less 98) decreased. In the capital alone, there are 1,247 new cases. However, it bodes well that the ratio between positives and smears is 9 percent, while the Rt index, on the ability to infect the virus, has dropped to 1.29. More generally in Lazio, the average age of those counted fell with the second wave to 48 years, but the highest number of deaths is recorded in the range of over 70. The last bulletin released yesterday by the Region is emblematic: there are four deceased of 79, 80, 86 and 90 years with pathologies. In ASL Rome 1, there are 456 cases in the last 24 hours, 440 in Rome2 and 351 in Rome, mostly isolated cases at home. One hundred and sixty-two cases identified on the recommendation of the GP. Of the 13 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, only two respectively 66 and 69, the others from 74 to 93 years, all with previous pathologies that the virus has only aggravated. Hence the decision to further strengthen health and controls. In fact, a decision has emerged from the Region that provides at least one buffer per month (antigenic or molecular) for all the elderly and fragile subjects (disabled and chronic) in home care. In total 30 thousand people, the vast majority (80 percent) over 65 years of age. To do this, already during the week, the affiliated facilities will offer home care.

But this is only the first step of the project. At the end of the month, the Region will pass another decision to organize a tampon system at home (and mandatory) for everyone 65 and older. To carry them out, there must be general practitioners and Uscar, the health teams that operate in the Region, under the auspices of the ASL and within a more general plan to promote home care. In which to guarantee, in addition to tests, also explorations with scans such as ultrasound and electrocardiograms, screening and maintenance therapies for chronically ill patients who in this phase have difficulties accessing hospital clinics.
According to the regional health councilor, Alessio D’Amato, “All this is necessary to guarantee vigilance and prevent positive situations in a context of greater fragility.” Regarding the first step of the project, swabs for patients with ADI, “ASL may also request accredited providers to expand home access to additional patients with Covid-19.”
In Lazio, more than a fifth of the population is over 65 years old.. Before Covid, and again in the region, there were 120.4 operational beds for the elderly for every 10,000 people in this age group, including residential facilities for socio-health and social care. Figures that make it clear how central this fragile segment is in the health dynamics of our territory. The Zingaretti board has been trying to implement solutions and tools to reduce risk in unexpected times. Last October, the Lazio TAR canceled the regional ordinance, which made influenza vaccination mandatory for those over 65, frail subjects and medical personnel. A ruling that did not change the Region’s plans to put the most critical groups under protection.
