Tragedy in Vaiano: he kills his partner, then commits suicide by jumping off the suspension bridge

Its, Leonardo Santini, fifty years old, committed suicide this morning, September 17, around 12:30 pm when he jumped from the suspension bridge of La Lima in the municipality of San Marcello Pistoiese. Before the tragic act, however, he had killed his partner, Claudia Messengers, 38 years. A case of femicide, as has emerged so far from the investigations.
It was the carabinieri who made the terrible discovery when they went to their partner’s house this afternoon to report the man’s tragic end. The military found her dead with obvious stab wounds to the body. It could be scissors or more likely a knife. The deputy prosecutor Carolina Dini arrived at the scene together with the commander of the carabinieri, Colonel Francesco Zamponi.
According to the first reconstructions, the reasons for the gesture are due to sentimental disputes but the fact that the employee of a fifty-year-old service company has not worked since last April may have worsened the outlook. Instead, she worked in a gym: she taught Pilates and was also a Caribbean dance teacher. The carabinieri found a note written by the man: a few lines where he would refer to critical issues in his relationship with his partner.
The couple had a two-year-old girl who was staying with her grandparents where they would take her this morning.
“It is a tragedy that has taken our breath away – comments the mayor of Vaiano Primo Bosi -. The reasons behind this gesture are yet to be understood. I know he worked occasionally due to the health emergency. I asked the offices to verify if I had asked the City for help with this or other problems. Nothing turns out. Tomorrow we will try to investigate ”.
