US President-elect Joe Biden received the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine. Biden, 78, was vaccinated live Monday night Monday, December 21 at ChristianaCare Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, near his home. “There’s nothing to worry about,” he said, “and I’m looking forward to the second dose.” Biden also praised the outgoing administration, led by Donald Trump, for the speed with which it made the vaccine available. His wife, Jill Biden, also received the vaccine.

The vaccine produced by Pfizer-BioNTech was approved on December 12 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the US government agency that deals with drugs. In recent days, while Moderna’s vaccine has also been licensed in the meantime, several other prominent American politicians have been vaccinated. Among them is outgoing Vice President Mike Pence. Instead, it seems that Trump will not be vaccinated for now: a few days ago a White House official said CNN that you would not be vaccinated unless recommended by your personal physicians.
