Italy will go to the moon with NASA. And for us it will be the first time in history

To date, only 12 humans have walked on the moon. And all within three years: from 1969 to 1972. The first was Neil Armstrong, on July 21, 1969. 19 minutes later it was the turn of Buzz Aldrin, his crewmate on the Apollo 11 mission. Years after the last lunar mission, NASA Administrator James Bridenstine and Undersecretary to Prime Minister Riccardo Fraccaro have signed an agreement that will bring the first Italians to our satellite.

The space program is called Artemis and it is part of a broader collaboration that also involves the European Space Agency (ESA): the goal is to return to the Moon by 2024.

This time, however, it won’t be a hit and run: the goal is to establish a colony in which astronauts from different countries can continually change, exactly as happens on the International Space Station (SSI).
