A crater 30 meters deep and 20 meters wide, almost perfectly symmetrical: this is the discovery made this summer in the Siberian tundra: it is, according to CNN, the ninth such hole sighted in the region since 2013. Scientists are still not sure of how they formed: the first uncontrolled theories circulating from the first discovery ranged from the meteorite impact to the collapse of a secret underground military depot and a landing UFO. But now the prevailing view is that these holes are related to exploding accumulations of methane gas, perhaps a side effect of warming temperatures in the region.
