The dissident Iranian journalist Ruollah Zam, founder of the channel Amad News, was executed in a prison in his country in the early hours of Saturday. He was arrested in 2019, upon returning to Iran after a period as a refugee in France, where he was placed under the protection of the Paris government.
Even before his flight abroad, he had been in prison for a few weeks for having challenged the Iranian establishment in power after the 2009 presidential elections. Last June he was sentenced to death, accused of inciting street protests that inflamed the country. Country in 2017 and 2018 through an online platform broadcast on Telegram.
