The decision of the governor of Sardinia Christian Solinas to open the discos in August, when the first signs of the second wave of coronavirus were already being perceived, becomes a political and judicial case. The confession to reporters from Report of two regional councilors from the center-right majority (there has been pressure from businessmen in the sector) has triggered an investigation by the Cagliari Prosecutor for a guilty epidemic and other crimes. Storm winds also on the political front; the revelations did not come from two second-rate exponents: Angelo Cocciu, leader of Forza Italia, Giovanni Satta, vice president of the Sardinian Action Party. Cocciu was denied by FI regional coordinator Ugo Cappellacci: he spoke in a personal capacity, councilors, councilors and the party do not agree. And a blanket of silence fell over Satta. Calla Solinas, who is also the national secretary of the PSd’Az, and the orientation of the majority seems to be not to comment. Filter the furious governor, someone believes that the resignation requests are probably for the two who resist and have made it clear that they will not relinquish their positions.

The judicial investigation and the political side meet on the order issued by Solinas on August 11, in particular on the opinion of the regional technical-scientific committee: the document was not made available to the editorial staff of Report (who therefore defined it as a ghost). And even yesterday Solinas did not make it public, ignoring the requests of the CGIL and the regional president of Anci: If there is – Emiliano Deiana hinted – that they remove it immediately. If not, it means that the money of a few has counted more than the health of all Sardinians. But is there opinion? And negative or positive? This will soon be known, because among the first acts of the investigating group (4 magistrates) is the request for execution of the ordinance in which the opinion quoted twice with the formulas heard and acquired. So it is not necessarily written – as is noted in center-right circles – but is communicated verbally, with a procedure that, however, being a delicate and controversial decision, would not be usual. If the opinion had been obtained orally, the Prosecutor would soon hear from committee members, including authorized infectious disease specialist Stefano Vella, when people reported the facts.

Of course, however, that the opening of discos allowed crazy nights on the Costa Smeralda and in the dozens of other nightclubs on the shores of Sardinia, with Billionaire, Phi Beach, Just Cavalli, Country Club and Sottovento packed with crazy tourists, often without masks; and after Ferragosto the inevitable boom in infections, brought to the Peninsula by tourists on their return: in Lazio alone, more than 1,200 positives from Sardinia.
