Close to exceeding the 30% threshold limit for Covid patients

There are ten regions with a defined high risk for the maintenance of intensive care: they are Abruzzo, Campania, Emilia Romagna, Liguria, Lombardy, Puglia, Sardinia, Tuscany, Umbria and Valle d’Aosta. According to the Monitoring of the Ministry of Health and the ISS they have a probability of exceeding the threshold of 30% of intensive care units occupied by Covid patients in the next month, from high to maximum. The regions reported with the highest level of risk for this parameter are Lombardy and Liguria.

ONLY THREE FREE PLACES IN INTENSIVE IN CAGLIARI – There are only three places available in intensive care at the Santissima Trinità hospital in Cagliari, the only Covid center in southern Sardinia. The medical director Sergio Marracini confirms this to ANSA. In total, there are 16 beds in intensive care, 13 already occupied, while 135 people are currently hospitalized in the hospital.

INDEX RT A 1.1 ON THE ISLAND – The transmissibility index (Rt) of Covid 19 in Sardinia is equal to 1.1. This is what emerges in the latest monitoring of the Ministry of Health and the ISS regarding the week of October 5 to 11. Faced with this situation, the island runs the risk of being among those regions in which more restrictive containment measures could be taken, such as “selective closures to allow school and productive activities to be carried out,” as proposed by Walter Ricciardi, advisor to the Minister of Health for the Covid emergency. The ministerial report also shows that in Sardinia the total number of cases is equal to 4,672 with a cumulative incidence of 286.54 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (557 cases and an incidence of 34.16 per 100,000 inhabitants only for the reference week).
