Albenga. Possible stoppage of operating rooms, PPI limitations and outpatient activities for patient visits: the Albenga hospital is preparing to return to the “Covid hospital” as in the dramatic days, weeks and months of the health emergency last spring. Even semi-intensive therapy could once again be a true resuscitation for Covid infection.
To date, there is no decision or official confirmation, since tomorrow a health summit is scheduled to discuss the delicate issue and, if necessary, adopt new operational options, also in light of the boom in infections registered in recent days ( see today’s newsletter).
Asl 2 has developed an emergency plan to deal with the arrival of the so-called “second wave”. The Albenga hospital guidelines would be a decision “taking into account the evolution of the epidemiological framework, for greater protection of the patients themselves and the health personnel”.
However, for the moment, as has been learned, the situation remains as it is. Furthermore, in case of implementation of the plan, progressive steps are foreseen, starting with the blocking of operational activities, for example, and only in the case of an aggravation of the pandemic could one think of something else.
If infections continue to increase, in the meantime medium intensity beds for Covid patients will be increased. If this happened, the medical and health personnel would inevitably be diverted to the Covid area and, therefore, the other departments and other health activities of the ingauno hospital could “lose out”.
Regarding the prospectus, which falls as mentioned in the same Asl 2 emergency plan, today there was also a phone call between the mayor of Albenga Riccardo Tomatis and the extraordinary commissioner Asl 2 Paolo Cavagnaro.
Only tomorrow we will have more precise indications after the meeting.
