FLORENCE – Today there are 866 new cases of Coronavirus positivity included in today’s newsletter from the Tuscany Region, 679 identified by following up contacts of known cases and 187 through screening activities. The total number of people who have contracted the new coronavirus in the regional territory amounts to 25,466. The province that has been registered the most at present is Florence, 303, followed by Arezzo (140), Livorno (105) and Pisa (104).
The average age of the 866 cases today is around 44 years (17% are under 20, 27% between 20 and 39, 31% between 40 and 59, 16% between 60 and 79.9% age 80 or older).
The newly infected today were identified by testing 7,359 suspected cases, 11.8% of which tested positive. By adding the control swabs, 11,629 tests have been performed in the last 24 hours, for a total of 950,782 since the start of the emergency.
Currently Covid positive people in Tuscany are 12,239 today, + 6% compared to yesterday. Of these, 579 were hospitalized (32 more than yesterday), of which 76 were in intensive care (4 more). Another 11,660 positives are isolated at home with mild or asymptomatic symptoms (661 more than yesterday). New wave of people in preventive isolation after close contact with an infected person: today there are 1,366 more for a total of 19,541 (Asl Centro 7,998, Northwest 6,871, Southeast 4,672).
In the last 24 hours there have also been 13 new deaths: 7 men and 6 women with an average age of 79.8 years; 8 lived in the province of Florence, 2 in the Prato area, 2 in Massa Carrara, one outside of Tuscany. The total number of victims rises to 1,221.
Those cured today are 160 and take the total to the quota 12,006: they represent 47.1% of the total infection cases in Tuscany.
The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday:
– There are 7,413 total cases to date in Florence (303 more than yesterday), 1,684 in Prato (41 more), 1,801 in Pistoia (23 more),
– 2,001 in Massa (30 more), 2,746 in Lucca (67 more), 3,294 in Pisa (104 more), 1,386 in Livorno (105 more),
– 2,443 in Arezzo (140 more), 1,279 in Siena (30 more), 869 in Grosseto (23 more).
Therefore, there are 367 cases found today in the Central Local Health Authority, 306 in the Northwest, 193 in the Southeast.
There are 550 positive cases reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions.
Tuscany ranks ninth in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 683 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (the Italian average is 720 x 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The notification provinces with the highest rate are Massa Carrara with 1,027 cases x 100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 786, Florence with 733, Grosseto with 392).
