MESTRE Now there is no trace of Auchan, except for a few faded billboards along the streets of the Aev Terraglio area and in the center of TeacherNow it is Conad who commands the large building in front of Terraglio Uno, the yellow building that was the first settlement in that area. Conad, however, will also close, only temporarily for a month, but it will. It opened the doors of the internal hypermarket of the center just ten days ago but it is an opening that serves to move the structure until after the Christmas holidays because, after the New Year, in mid-January, the business will close its doors again because it will be restructured and modernized in accordance with the most current commercial criteria. It will be closed for a month and will reopen completely renovated in mid-February.
THE FIRST STEP
And it will be just the first step in the overall operation designed to restore the appeal of the entire shopping center on the outskirts of Mestre, which is now more than twenty years old after being inaugurated on September 19, 1995. And it will have to be a deep renovation. because Lando, a few hundred meters in a straight line, runs to build his new hypermarket right next to the Castellana roundabout on the ring road. And also because the entire shopping center that, in addition to Conad, has space for 120 stores of all kinds arranged on two floors, on the top floor is almost completely empty, with the shutters closed, both those of the old Auchan (that above the supermarket of food housed household goods, clothing, appliances and electronics), and those of other businesses. In total, of the 120 commercial premises, around fifty have closed their doors, making the upper part a desert interspersed with some light that indicates the presence of an open commercial establishment.
That is why the Conad consortium will not only be in the renovation of the structure but will work side by side with Cushman & Wakefield, which since August 1 manages the entire shopping center with the aim of relaunching it. Cushman & Wakefield is one of the largest private companies in the world real estate market that manufactures more than 400 million square meters in more than 60 countries, structures that house brands such as Printemps, Le Coq Sportif, Primark, H&M, Starbucks. The Group is tasked with making the Porte di Mestre center attractive again where Conad operates, which took over the Auchan business in mid-May 2019 and is still negotiating the purchase of the real estate precisely because first wants to see the rest of the gallery (of Enpam, the national organization of insurance and assistance to doctors and dentists), it is reborn and then returns to profitability and consequently to production also for the hypermarket. Cushman & Wakefield is an international group that operates a little around the world, Conad is a consortium of entrepreneurs (acronym for National Consortium of Retailers) that in the Veneto area has entrusted the management of its centers to the Cooperative of independent traders, and its managers dress like workers and spend their days inside the hypermarket. Two different types of management that must find common ground on which to work so that new merchants, from various product sectors, from the first months of next year, re-rent spaces and settle down, refilling, little by little , also the gallery above. Meanwhile, to begin with, at the roundabout at the entrance of Porta Marghera, in the southern part of the shopping center, the bar that borders the Conad hypermarket will change its skin as it will become a self-service with a bar but also catering.
