MASSA-CARRARA – Today there are 2,336 new positive cases of coronavirus in Tuscany (1,947 identified in the course of screening and 389 from detection activities) out of a total of 50,987 cases registered since the beginning of the epidemic. New cases are 4.8% more than the total of the previous day. The average age of 2,336 cases today is approximately 45 years (16% are under 20, 24% between 20 and 39, 34% between 40 and 59, 18% between 60 and 79, 8% are 80 years or older).
Those cured grew 0.9% and reached 15,667 (30.7% of all cases). The swabs performed reached 1,133,147, 14,415 more than yesterday. 9,081 subjects were analyzed (excluding control swabs), of which 25.7% were positive. To these are added the 349 rapid antigenic swabs that are carried out today. The current positives are 33,917 today, + 6.9% compared to yesterday. There are 1,451 hospitalized (52 more than yesterday), of which 190 in intensive care (8 more).
Today there are 16 new deaths: 8 men and 8 women with an average age of 86.1 years. Regarding the province of residence, the deceased are: 7 in Florence, 1 in Pistoia, 2 in Massa-Carrara (two 93-year-old women), 1 in Lucca, 1 in Livorno, 3 in Arezzo, 1 in Grosseto. It is reiterated that in any case it will be the responsibility of the Higher Institute of Health to definitively attribute the deaths to the coronavirus: in fact they could be people who already had concomitant pathologies.
These are the data – verified at 12 noon today based on requests from the National Civil Protection – related to the advance of the epidemic in the region.
It should be remembered that as of June 24, 2020, the Ministry of Health has modified the data collection system on the spread of Covid-19. Positive cases are no longer indicated according to the province of notification but according to the province of residence or domicile.
The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change from yesterday. There are 15,197 total cases to date in Florence (577 more than yesterday), 4,195 in Prato (211 more), 4,005 in Pistoia (113 more), 3,087 in Massa-Carrara (82 more), 4,871 in Lucca (108 more), 6,398 in Pisa (264 more), 3,650 in Livorno (235 more), 4,965 in Arezzo (259 more), 2,176 in Siena (88 more), 1,515 in Grosseto (21 more). 555 positive cases were reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions (5 more). For 373 cases, controls are still being carried out to assign them to the correct province of residence. At the moment, therefore, there are 901 cases found today in Central ASL, 689 in the Northwest, 368 in the Southeast.
Tuscany ranks eighth in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 1,357 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (the Italian average is 1,212 x 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The notification provinces with the highest rate are Prato with 1,628 cases x 100,000 inhabitants, Massa Carrara with 1,584, Pisa with 1,527, and Grosseto the lowest with 684.
In total, 32,466 people are isolated at home, since they have mild symptoms, do not require hospital care or do not have symptoms (2,130 more than yesterday, 7% more). There are 32,833 (2,000 more than yesterday, plus 6.5%) people, also isolated, under active surveillance, for having had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 11,487, Northwest 13,693, Southeast 7,653).
The people admitted to beds dedicated to Covid patients today are a total of 1,451 (52 more than yesterday, plus 3.7%), 190 in intensive care (8 more than yesterday, plus 4.4%).
The total number of cured people is 15,667 (138 more than yesterday, plus 0.9%): 716 clinically cured people (stable compared to yesterday), that is, who became asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with the infection and 14,951 (138 more compared to yesterday, + 0.9%) declared cured in all aspects, the so-called viral cures, with double negative swab.
1,403 have died since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 508 in Florence, 73 in Prato, 99 in Pistoia, 199 in Massa Carrara, 161 in Lucca, 124 in Pisa, 86 in Livorno, 75 in Arezzo, 37 in Siena , 27 in Grosseto, 14 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.
Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 37.6 x 100,000 residents versus 64.7 x 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region). Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (102.1 x 100 000), Florence (50.2 x 100 000) and Lucca (41.5 x 100 000), the lowest in Grosseto (12.2 x 100,000).
THE SITUATION IN ASL TNO HOSPITALS
Regarding hospitalizations for “Covid-19”, in the USL Tuscany Northwest company hospitals there are a total of 331, of which 49 in intensive care. 84 patients in Livorno hospital, 7 of them in intensive care. In the Lucca hospital 80 patients, 12 of them in intensive care. In the Apuane hospital, 77 were hospitalized (-2 compared to yesterday), of which 12 were in intensive care (-1 compared to yesterday). In the Versilia hospital 57 patients, 5 of them in intensive care. In the Pontedera hospital 33 patients, of which 3 in intensive care. The positive people in the company’s territory as of yesterday (November 2) were 9,813 against 6,272 on October 26 (+3,541) and against 1,409 on October 2 (in one month there was therefore an increase of 8,404 positives). From the daily monitoring, throughout the territory of the USL Tuscany North West Company, to date (November 3) there are 13,693 (+469 compared to yesterday) isolated people, under active surveillance, for having had contact with infected people.
