As of Wednesday, September 30, in Sicily it will be mandatory to wear masks even outdoors, when it is not possible to maintain physical distance and you are not with relatives or relatives. This is foreseen by a new order signed on September 27 by the president of the region Nello Musumeci after an increase in cases of coronavirus infection in recent weeks. The ordinance also establishes that any person who arrives in Sicily from abroad is subject to control tests, as well as, periodically, all employees of health companies, guests of social and health establishments and fragile subjects.

On September 24, Campania President Vincenzo De Luca had also signed an ordinance reintroducing the obligation to wear the mask outdoors, and Calabrian President Jole Santelli signed a similar order the following day. On September 23, however, the president of Liguria, Giovanni Toti, in agreement with the mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci, had signed an order that immediately required the wearing of a mask in the historic center and in the old port of the city.
