Barricades made of garbage and then set on fire, then devastated awnings and firecrackers exploded in the middle of the street. Vandalism, no bravado. They all wore the beard of the prohibitions and restrictions imposed by the government. All documented and published on social networks. It happened in Milan the night between New Year’s Eve and New Year in 2021.
And if in 2019 the epicenter of the devastation was via Gola, this time everything happened in other areas of the city: “There are numerous reports of barrels and situations that do not conform to the decree of the citizens of Affori, Padua, San siro, Corvetto ”, Commented Fabiola Minoletti, vice president of coordination of the Milanese committees.
During the night, several garbage cans caught fire, others blew up. On the other hand, there are many people who have taken over the streets (violating the curfew) to set off firecrackers or access sources of fireworks. Between midnight and early morning, the firefighters of the Milan provincial command carried out some thirty interventions to put out the fires caused by the fireworks.
The only small consolation is that injuries caused by the barrels have decreased: only four people have had to go to the emergency room. The most serious is a 54-year-old man from San Giuliano Milanese who lost two fingers on his right hand and injured his abdomen. Not only that: a 44-year-old man was injured in the left cheekbone; a 17-year-old thigh and finally the 3-year-old injured her eyelid.
There was no shortage of shots in the streets of the city: three people were reported for seeking alarm after having fired on the streets of the city with firearms. Finally, the streets of the city were stained with blood: a criminal shot and wounded two people on the Via Gigante in Milan.
