Impressive drop in temperatures at the end of the month

[ad_1]

In recent days, either due to the heat or the absence of intriguing situations, the weather issue has lost a bit of “appeal.” But today, looking at the mathematical models, something to talk about, at least in perspective, is for sure: the temperature.

Let’s remember that we are facing an incredible heat wave, perhaps underestimated by many because we are in September (the perception, given the shorter days, is certainly different from August), both in Italy and in Europe. In fact, as we have written several times we can consider ourselves “lucky” because beyond the Alps the positive anomalies have easily exceeded 10 ° C

In general, by now we know, when it comes to persistent anomalies, the risk is that they disappear with anomalies of the opposite sign. This is what could happen in the last days of September, when The cold air from the North Atlantic could erupt with surprising momentum.

Look at the map of possible thermal anomalies at 1500 meters for September 27: impressive. Dark blue would confirm strong negative anomalies (compared to the usual thirty-year average 1979-2010), of the order of 5-6 ° C but that in the following days could reach peaks of 8-10 ° C. It would result in a drop of 12-15 ° C compared to the current values.

It would pass, traumatic, from midsummer to late fall. Obviously we need more confirmation, but at this point there would be nothing strange. More than anything we will have to be careful with thermal contrasts, because we run the risk of having to comment on a potentially dangerous wave of bad weather.
