I was helping the other sick, there was no one

Rosario La Monica, by Marigliano he is the man who materially recorded the shock video of the patient who died in the bathroom inside the suspect area of the Cardarelli hospital in Naples. He himself confesses it with a long post on Facebook, accompanied by other images taken inside the Neapolitan hospital. What is the truth? What happened to the Cardarellis? Rosario documented the tragedy during her short hospitalization of those infected by Covid, then sent the video via WhatsApp to other people and one of them, Agostino Romano, a councilor of the IX Soccavo-Pianura municipality of Naples, published it on social networks, which made it viral and was the subject of a national debate on the real state of the hospital system in Campania, in particular the capital city.

The man says (the text taken from his long Facebook post was edited only for grammatical errors):

I am the author of the Cardarelli’s video and I will explain how it went. I was hospitalized for Covid positivity for a quick swab, I was one day without receiving any medicine or anything, just my oxygen in the hall the next day. After a long night, while other patients complained, I got up to check the cylinders were all exhausted and I changed them because there was no nurse.

I had to help so many people. In the morning, it was 10 o’clock, we did not receive any therapy. The first therapy was at 9 o’clock we received it at 2 o’clock (in the afternoon edition). There were people who needed insulin, blood pressure pills, etc. An old man in the last bed who got up without strength, had to go to the bathroom … me with a little chiasso I managed to catch a nurse with my arm and to bring him inside and put him on the bed waiting for the catheter. The catheter never arrived and was never placed.

The story is that of the moments that preceded the tragic discovery of man’s death:

The poor old man got up and went to the bathroom. 10 minutes have passed and I have opened. I asked him if everything was okay and he nodded. The other patients can also confirm: I helped everyone, I measured saturation, heart rate and blood pressure at all, I saved an old woman with a saturation of 65 and made her revive.

Anyway .. I open the door and there was the old man on the floor. I take the water and throw it in their face to see if it will move… I ask for help but they treat me like someone with Ebola. They tell me “take care of your business” [ …] I go back inside, take my cell phone, put on my gloves and register and then call 112 . The nurses arrive at half an hour and declare dead and put him by our side as if nothing had happened.

After another half hour the doctor comes and says cardiac arrest. but if the old man couldn’t breathe and needed oxygen? There were no stretchers to help him, there was nothing … I was there against everyone. Today I am at home, I was discharged because I do not have pneumonia but I have the virus and I have to treat it at home.

Regarding the fact of having published such a harsh video, in clear violation of the privacy of the sick, Rosario La Mónica defends herself:

I apologize to the family but I did not know what to do and how to do it, it was not my intention to show him the death of his father but only those who are old and destined to die … because if you go to the hospital and you have a heart attack, they first think about Covid and if you do not have Covid you will take it safely.

The man also posted other videos. in which it is seen that he was actually measuring blood oxygen saturation and heartbeat using an electromedical device supplied to Cardarelli. “You’re a disgrace – it’s your back closure – rebel.” An investigation has been opened by the Naples Prosecutor’s Office on the history of the deceased and there is a complaint from the relatives of the dead whose body is seized.

Cardarelli’s health directorate had announced an internal investigation to find out who had filmed a video. Now they have found out: he was one of those who were there for treatment.

Cardarelli attacks his former patient

In the afternoon, a note from the press office of the Cardarelli Hospital harshly stigmatized La Mónica’s words, defining him as “a disturbed man with obsessive behavior“To make public what resembles a medical diagnosis in all respects, it is Fiorella Paladino, head of the Obi del Cardarelli Emergency Service:

A disturbed man who in the short time he was hospitalized had an obsessive behavior. Cardarelli’s emergency room chief defines the accusations made on social media as “completely false. All emergency room personnel go through grueling shifts to cope with the constant influx of patients. It is very sad that this man took advantage of every moment he had the opportunity to be alone to continue his obsession, using the suffering of other patients and our hospital almost as a set to record videos that he later posted on social networks.
