A new intensive care unit has been opened in the hospital and dedicated to Covid patients. The decision was made on Monday night by the task force led by medical director Daniele Donato with 11 places at the university hospital. “The numbers are increasing and at the provincial level it was necessary to make additional places available for resuscitation” explained the medical director Daniele Donato, “the entire hospital network is under pressure and we are far from registering a relaxation. Hospitalizations continue at a high rate and the clinical picture of patients compared to a few weeks ago is generally more severe. This leads to longer stays and a greater intensity of care and consequently a greater availability of beds. ”Therefore, a part of general surgery was reduced.
