GPS, Azzolina: “Very few errors and omissions”

In the Education Commission, a hearing was held with the Minister of Education, Lucía Azzolina, at the beginning of the school year.

Regarding the provincial rankings of substitutes, the minister states: “There are 753,750 requests for inclusion in the provincial rankings and institutes of substitutes received within the term, which expired at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 6. More than 800 thousand users in total who, during the opening period of the application, from July 22 to August 6, connected to the system, for a total of 8,659,102 accesses to the online application. 58% of the accesses were made through desktop, 39% through mobile device, 3% through tablet. The offices completed the evaluation of 1 million and 938 thousand applications on time and the publication of the rankings began immediately. In this sense, I want to thank the staff of the Administration and the schools, who worked tirelessly to achieve the result ”.

Still: “For the first time, the system has allowed us to have a computerized procedure that reduces processing times, which eliminates differences in valuations in individual rankings, ensuring impartiality and objectivity. We released the rankings on time, avoiding the domino effect in which the slowdown of a single school meant blocking all production in entire provinces. The grades submitted, once validated by the individual schools, will enter the teacher registry, which will allow their use for the subsequent submission of applications without the need for further paperwork by teachers. In recent days some inconsistencies have been reported in the scores declared by the candidates. There were, in extremely small numbers: errors and omissions in the completion of the applications by the candidates, material corrections to be made ”.

Then: “The Provincialization and digitization are bringing to light an extremely significant fact: for years, in the previous rankings, there were positions, with scores difficult to verify and with critical degrees of inconsistency. A generalized and multi-level control system has been activated, which today makes it possible to make all these positions transparent and to immediately allow offices and schools to restore management to truth and correctness. Citizen and staff participation is encouraged and all reports are taken into account, as is naturally provided by the legislation on administrative procedure and on the transparency of the administration’s actions. Any anomaly whose verification leads to the finding of false statements, with the double control activated by the administration and the schools, is submitted to the competent authorities “.

In summary, a tool has been put in place that begins to remedy the long-standing problems of our educational system in a structural way, including the chronic shortage of some types of teachers, especially in the northern areas of our country, which frees educational institutions with an enormous amount of tasks, which leads to the appearance of anomalies to be pursued and which ends the old roulette of the choice of individual educational institutions. There has also been a lot of spurious controversy about this. I omit the defeatist instrumentality of the declarations of all those who did not want and do not want such innovation ”.
