Thanks to the snowfall that has affected the mountains of Pistoia and especially the Abetone ski area in recent days, it was foreseeable that someone would try to circumvent the current dpcm to come skiing in the mountains of Pistoia. For this reason, on the day of the Immaculate Conception, the San Marcello Piteglio carabinieri decided to intensify road traffic controls, anticipating a greater number of patrols present in the area, especially in the morning. Despite the incessant rain that turned to snow above 1000 meters above sea level, checkpoints have been organized along the Statale 64 Porrettana, the Statale 66 Pistoiese and the Statale 12 dell’Abetone and del Brennero, or the main roads that connect the mountains of Pistoia with the Tuscan provincial capitals and, precisely during this activity, the Abetone carabinieri station met some boys from Lucca, in their early twenties, who, with the complete ski equipment, were traveling along state road 12, in Val Buia, or in the center of Abetone, carrying out some evolution on the snow . with snowboard. Immediately arrested and identified, the same people, coming from outside the province, could not provide any other justification for their presence in the place other than that there had not been such beautiful snow in Abetone for years and therefore could not let the snow pass. opportunity to come skiing.

Shortly after, still in the center of Abetone, another 4 people from the province of Florence were arrested who, when asked about this, tried to justify their presence in Abetone because they had to buy sports clothes in local stores: it is a pity that they were already dressed in ski suits and had skis and snowboards ready to use.

Tuscany is currently classified as an orange zone and within it movements are limited at the municipal level, if not for justified reasons of work, health or strict need.
