Giuseppe Conte enters Italian homes. He claims – but it is false – that the boom in infections occurs at home where he prohibits invitations to dinner
Franco Bechis
For the first time in history in a legislative text, thelast dpcm signed yesterday by Giuseppe Contand – a kind of rule has been inserted, which is above all a lecture to Italians about their behavior within the walls of their homes. Here’s the pearl: “With regard to private homes, it is highly recommended avoid parties, as well as to avoid receiving people who do not live together number greater than six”.
It had never happened, but in the end the text was written, disappointing the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza who also wanted sanctions for family behavior and even an invitation to report inappropriate behavior in the condominium. But even in this version, the invasion of the state into the home is sensational, the first step ever taken in a democracy on the path of the “Lives of others” that was the key to the East German dictatorship until the fall of the Wall. . Sedan. That this is something abnormal is clear to the Prime Minister himself, who yesterday felt compelled to reassure Italians by promising: “We will not send the police forces to private homes, but we must act prudently to manage the phase.”
Behind this sensational invasion of the government in private sphere There is a refrain that is repeated over and over again: today infections would occur mainly in the family and in relationships between friends. They say this because each of the government ministers defends their sector: Paola De Micheli wants to protect the transport companies, Lucía Azzolina does not want to go down in history as the minister who closed the school. But even assuming that it is the closest family and friends (how many do you want to come to a private house?) To amplify the infections, the virus before entering that house someone will also have made fun of it somewhere . .
For weeks I have heard in the circle of more or less close acquaintances people who are in isolation or quarantine at home because there was one or more positive boys or boys in a class and then very extensive precautionary measures were taken. Personal experience is that instead it is precisely the school as the engine of this second phase was imaginable: you are in closed classrooms because time now does not allow anything else and especially with the little ones, distancing is a splendid motto that has been proven actually a utopia. The kids are as we have always known them in the history of the school and they escape everywhere. As willing as teachers and professors try, they cannot keep them in a cage. It is impossible to create a barrier against the virus in school, we knew that. And the opening of schools, as well as of all work environments, has filled public transport beyond belief in peak hours, and even here the experience of these weeks clearly demonstrates how utopian each distance is with vehicles full to the 80%. its capacity (who will check next?). In the subway stations and among the passengers of buses and wagons, everyone is squatting, as has always been the case. Clearly, the virus can easily circulate here.
Instead, families and young people are accused of “having fun,” which is a word deemed unacceptable by a government of cheap moralists. Because even here they don’t convince me at all: the nightlife was visible to everyone since the end of the confinement, the bars and restaurants from mid-May reopened with the same rules as now. However, in June, July, and August, mica infections rose above the alert level. Why the hell in September and October should they, the nightlife guys, be the reason for the virus resumption?
Today, there is no real health problem that motivates these dpcm. There is more, which our government would like to hide: there is no longer a euro in our pocket and there would be no money to compensate, as it is due to closed production activities on a large scale, as would require even a partial lockdown. Then they fix here and there in the hope of solving the problem because the government sang a cheap story about the Recovery Fund, which is not there, and is not asking for the loans that can be applied for. It is difficult to face this moment, and even more difficult to do it with an executive in charge who does not have a single idea in common and who has his reason to live only to avoid being replaced by the opposition in power: they are there in their seats. And the only way not to get off and talk a lot and do nothing is not to make a single real decision. But to point the finger accusing the life of the families for their own convenience, casting shadows and suspicions on the encounter between mothers and children, sowing unjustified fears not proven by any true scientific source (I am not talking about the singers of power) within the home. , it is simply unacceptable.
