The gas stations confirm their closure with the closing of the distributors from the afternoon of Monday, December 14 until the afternoon of the 16, this after the intervention of the Guarantor Authority for the strike in essential public services. The authority called for “responsibility” to the employees of the gas station not to aggravate the already difficult situation of the “Institutions involved in prevention and containment of the spread of the virus” (for example, refueling ambulances) and to reduce the duration of the strike. The strike time was reduced by approximately half a day.
The gas stations will now close on the 14th at 7:00 p.m. (ordinary network) and 22:00 (motorways) and will reopen respectively at 3:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on December 16 and not, as previously announced, at 7 and 6 December 17th. In the intervention of the authority (which recognized the legitimacy of the protest), the assistants of the gas station were asked to reduce the duration of the protest (60 hours of continuous closure on working days in ordinary roads and 56 consecutive hours in roads), the gas stations agreed to reduce the lockout that will end half a day earlier.
“Now – underlines a joint note from Faib Confesercenti, Fegica Cisl and Figisc / Anisa Confcommercio – it is the Institutional party, in particular the Minister of Economic Development, Patuanelli, who is called to exercise one of the prerogatives assigned to him: disposition of confrontation with the social interlocutors “The Fuel Refueling Managers (which as an essential activity have never closed) complain of having been excluded from the categories that can benefit from the support measures included in the different” Refreshment Decrees “and introduced to mitigate the dramatic economic effects of the current pandemic emergency on small businesses and their employees.
The reduction in the duration of the strike called by the service station organizations and decided after the revocation of the Guarantor Authority for strikes was insufficient for the Codacons. “It is not enough to reduce the duration of the protest by half a day, because the closure of the distributors from the afternoon of Monday, December 14 until the afternoon of 16, will in any case cause enormous inconvenience to citizens – explains President Carlo Rienzi – that it is absolutely wrong at such a difficult time for the country and for the population to implement forms of strikes that have the sole consequence of harming the citizens. ”Therefore, we ask the Government and the prefects of all Italy to evaluate the judicial order of the gas stations, considering that the supply of fuel represents an essential public service that the community cannot do without, both in the ordinary network and on the highways ”, Rienzi concludes.
