The alarm went off at 11:45, starting from the coordinates of the drop point, the Verona emergency helicopter carried out a reconnaissance and identified the body in one of the numerous channels at 1,500 meters above sea level.
The rescue
With a team from the Schio Alpine Rescue, he embarked a lifeguard in support of the operations and lowered him with a 30-meter winch along with the crew’s helicopter rescue technician. Once the approval for removal was obtained, the body was recovered again using the winch to be transported to the Balasso Refuge and entrusted to the hearse in the presence of the carabinieri. The other rescuers went to meet the boy’s companion, assisted by a couple who had witnessed the accident, to accompany him downstream to Bocchetta Campiglia.
The Route of the Galleries
The Strada delle Gallerie (actually a mule road) is one of the most famous alpine routes and begins at Bocchetta Campiglia, gaining altitude quickly in the initial section. You enter and leave the first 20 tunnels continuously, some of which have a particular development (tunnels 12, 19 and 20) until you enter, at an altitude of 1700, the Val Camossara valley.
