Fusaro and the unmasking of the rapid swab | Butac

You reported a Diego Fusaro podcast, a podcast where the noartri influencer tells us a story that comes from Austria. I didn’t want to give Fusaro visibility so I downloaded the transcript of the part that interests us, there are some lines, the audio was really short.

… Several times we have certainly raised the question of tampons. Are the swabs with which people divide into positive or negative covids reliable?

And if so, how reliable are tampons? Are they as such by definition or are there cases where they are not at all reliable? good the general secretary of the Austrian party has recently unmasked the operation of tampons Michael Schnedlitz, who conducted an experiment on massive testing for COVID-19 directly in the parliament session. In particular, Mr. Michael performed a test for the coronavirus by inserting the swab into a glass of coke that he understood very well in a glass of coke and after a few minutes the test came back positive for the virus. By the way, it is the rapid tests that we have also been spreading for some time. This is what Mr Michael Schnedlitz literally said, I repeat the talk … from the Austrian party and in particular the Austrian Parliament. Then he said: the massive coronavirus tests are a joke, this test you bought with taxpayers’ money is worth nothing. This was stated verbatim by the parliamentarian who unmasked, if we want to say so, the reliability of tests called swabs for the coronavirus. Because if it is true, as the Austrian parliamentarian demonstrated, that testing it with coca cola is positive, at least it must be inferred that these tests are not as reliable as they would have us believe. If you wish, we can formulate the hypothesis of whether the test is positive with coca cola, which should therefore be positive for the covid that these tests can have in people, it can really be assumed for good these tests or perhaps we should not raise some doubts about its reliability.

When I read what Fusaro says, it always amazes me that there are people who follow him, who speak badly, who speak in a confused way, how is it possible that he has so many followers? But hey, we are not here to discuss Fusaro’s Italian. We are here talking about tampons and Coca Cola.

Fusaro has a degree in Philosophy of History, I do not claim that he has a notion of how two elements can interact with each other. I justify your ignorance on the subject, but I do not justify that you want to talk at all costs about something that is clearly without competence. Fusaro carries the test made by the Austrian right-wing MP forever, to the point of defining what has happened and unmasking the reliability of the swabs. But anyone who deals with science and not philosophy can understand that what the Austrian parliamentarian put into practice is a joke without scientific value.

To prove that a test does not work, I must first use it the correct way, which is not to dip the swab in a liquid. In Austria in the newspapers, the serious ones, evidently not consulted by Fusaro, have already given some explanations about the positive result of the test. The concept is that the tampon should not be immersed in liquid, the tampon is made to collect mucus from the throat or nose. The mucus is not equivalent to a glass of Coca-Cola, the mucus does not have the acidity levels that Coca-Cola has. The acids inside the Coca Cola interacted with the buffer giving a result that has no scientific value. The tampon is designed to react with what is in the mucus, not with the ingredients in a soda. Not understanding that such a test is a worthless theatrical gesture is serious. Unfortunately I am of the opinion that Fusaro knows perfectly well that the gesture does not make sense., but at the same time he knows very well that his followers do not have enough critical spirit to realize it and that is why he does not give a damn and gives them the news.

The managers of the tampon manufacturing company stated:

Any pregnancy test would have been positive. Before the Honorable Member makes such embarrassing statements public, it would make sense to study even a little chemistry.

If it were done in good faith I would define disinformation, but both the Austrian parliamentarian and Fusaro in good faith have none, here they intentionally misinformed, it is shameful that political space is given to subjects like Fusaro and Schnedlitz.

I don’t think I can add anything else.
