Ftse Mib in red despite oil sector

Oscillating session of the Italian Stock Exchange today: in the Ftse Mib the evolution of the energy sector, driven by the evolution of the price of oil.

In the commodities market, the future with May delivery in Brent registered, in the third consecutive session of gains, + 3.1% to 68.8 dollars a barrel after the decision of OPEC + to confirm the current level of production.

In currency, the Eurodollar shares half a percentage point in red at 1.19098.

Last night, after the closing of the operations in Europe, the number one of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, said that the central bank will be “patient” with the next price increases, considered “transitory”.

At the end of the eighth, the Ftse Mib stopped at 22,965.63 points, down -0.55%, while the Italy-Germany spread grew by almost one percentage point to 106 basis points.

Among the few plus signs on the blue chip list are those registered by stocks in the energy sector following the evolution of oil prices: Saipem finished with + 3.33%, Tenaris with + 3.1% and Eni with + 1.88%.

Red by one percentage point for Stellantis (-1.16%) which announced the conditional distribution of up to 54,297,006 shares Faurecia and a maximum of 308 million euros in cash.

Update at 13: Ftse Eb positive

In the middle of the session, the Ftse Mib registered a + 0.14%, the Cac40 a -0.29% and the Dax a -0.49%.

On the public debt front, the BTP-Bund spread barely moves to 105 basis points.

The energy sector stood out (+ 3.46% from Saipem, + 2.48% from Tenaris and + 1.9% from Eni) and public services companies (+ 0.87% from Enel, + 0.85% from Telecom Italy).

Among the banks, Banco BPM (+ 1.14%) and BPER (+ 1.17%) stand out.

This is the proceeds received by Peugeot from the sale of Faurecia ordinary shares in October 2020, payable to holders of Stellantis ordinary shares.

These will receive 0.017029 ordinary shares of Faurecia and 0.096677 euros for each share owned.

On the public debt front, the BTP-Bund spread increased 0.7% to 106 basis points.

As part of the recent placement of the first tranche of the Green BTP (placed at 99,168 with a coupon of 1.5% and annual gross yield on issue of 1.547%), the Ministry of Economy and Finance has issued a note to specify that in 2045 the bond has received total requests for more than 80 billion euros, “Reaching – note of the reports of via XX Settembre – the record of applications in the inaugural issues of sovereign Green Bonds in Europe”.

Asia Stock Exchanges: Nikkei closes weak

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index posted -0.43%, the China A50 ended -0.58% and the Nikkei closed -0.23%.

Red at 0.74% for the Australian S & P / ASX 200 index.

Wall Street: still strong selling on the Nasdaq

Yesterday the Dow Jones closed -1.11%, the S & P500 registered -1.34% and the Nasdaq closed down 2.11%.
