The president of the Campania region, Vincenzo De Luca investigated as part of an investigation by the Naples Prosecutor’s Office with the hypothesis of abuse and fraud. Four traffic policemen from Salerno, he writes The Republic, would have been promoted in the Region to staff members. They would be assigned the function of secretarial staff or directors. De Luca, who is running for an encore at the helm of the Region in the regional elections on September 20 and 21, was heard by prosecutors in recent months.

The story concerns alleged concessions and favoritism by its four historical drivers, from the municipal police of Salerno (municipality long run by De Luca), then transferred to the regional body in Naples and eventually promoted to the governor’s secretariat. For them, who are not under investigation, there would also have been a salary increase. The investigators’ research hypothesis was also built on the basis of some complaints filed by the center-right opposition in the regional council.

The investigation dates back to a few years ago. All born from a traffic accident that occurred on September 15, 2017 when, in Salerno, via Lazarone, the car with the president on board tempers a student’s scooter. At that time the investigations began, including the driver who was driving the service car, one of the four promoted traffic policemen.
